Instead of man wondering and wishing
“IF ONLY” I could fly free like the bird?”
He asked “WHY” he wants to go fly, man would
Have known before life became absurd
/
“IF ONLY” started with better food to fry
Or safer shelter far more warm and dry.
Then came “If Only I was not so afraid”
In a life he knew by then always passes away
/
IF ONLY
IF ONLY, WHY?
IF ONLY CRIES
IF ONLY TRIES
/
IF ONLY KILLS
IF ONLY DIES
IF ONLY, WHY?
IF ONLY
/
Then man asked why he felt bad all the time
In first memories before he did any crime?
Suffering would stop on a dime if only he
Had rid himself of “If Only” all the time
/
Begging, “Who feels so bad full-time?”
For 3,000 years no one home found
Now inventing perfect gods and souls
With no reason to feel so foul with goals
/
IF ONLY
IF ONLY, WHY?
IF Only CRIES
IF ONLY TRIES
/
IF ONLY KILLS
IF ONLY DIES
IF ONLY, WHY?
IF ONLY
/
These imagined perfect projections of self
Were written down in new holy books
Handed down the only way to face death
Changing view of life feeling more dread
/
All holy books start a thousand wars,
Give more misery in man’s core than ever
Before wishing with “If Only” for more and
More making all men treat other men sore
/
IF ONLY
IF ONLY, WHY?
IF ONLY CRIES
IF ONLY TRIES
/
IF ONLY KILLS
IF ONLY DIES
IF ONLY, WHY?
IF ONLY
/
