Transformation is easy

With sticks of dynamite to please,

As eyes and fingers can get

Blown away on this Summer’s day;

The noise frightens dogs away

With adults joining in child’s play.

Today marks 249 years since

A Declaration of Independence

From English rule with all to loose;

Followed by over a decade of war

With the French on our side in arms and gold.

Can the Revolution last? Lately I’m’ not sold.

Ken Burns just completed his historical series

on the American Revolutionary War for PBS

And did a full interview on July 4th, calling

It the most important event since the coming

Of Jesus Christ over two thousand years ago!

He reminded me we have been tested before.

/

I was relieved by his optimism, as I saw his ten hour

series on the Civil War many times before.
