That Second Cup

There are few in this World with cups

Overflowing, so the rest of us need

That special “Second Cup of Tea”

To really feel up for each day to help

/

All the Children of the Earth

Who have no need for Tea, as they

Give Birth to the Brightness of the

Day and it’s Promise of Wonder.

/

Boddhidarhma’s tears still allow us to awake

When we grow up to need the daily Tea Break,

Which England still shuts down to make

And Japan treats “The Tea Ceremony” sacredly.

/

Yet there is nothing Holy in Tea Leaves,

Only in Special Company, even if it is only me.

Many know that if a man can have That Second Cup

He is truly free, especially with loving Company.

/

There is nothing that can destroy

A simple sip and chat and sit down on any mat

Anywhere and during any Season on this Earth.

In times of War and Peace, Tea is a new Birth

/

If one can see each man with That Second Cup

Is truly free when he does not think of the “me”

But sips it up with the simple joy of a little pup;

And there is no need for caffeine, as any Tea

/

Wakes up any day and Tea is a wordless way to pray.

In the light not dark with open eyes and ready to play.

So have That Second Cup anyway, and you will let

Reality have it’s Way, leaving us with plenty to say.
